First Time Shooting Film
07/06/2020

Picked up a mint condition Nikon F100 35mm SLR camera and a roll of Portra 400 (the go to film stock)
I asked a few friends if they'd be willing to model for me and let me test out this new experience.
All in all it was pretty cool and felt much more rewarding, as many say. Taking your shot and not truly knowing how it will come out until it's been developed, scanned and colour corrected to your preference.
All of that is fun! I'm happy how some shots turned out. I have heaps more to learn about and practice makes perfect
Above is a favourite from the roll. I used my local film development shop @theblackandwhitebox located in Ellerslie, Auckland, To develop the film.
I then scanned it at home on my Epson V370 (consumer low-end scanner) and finally Negative Lab Pro for some touch ups to the colour and contrast
As for my gear, I'm using the following
Nikon F100 (35mm SLR)
Nikon 50mm f/1.4 AI-S MF Lens
Kodak Portra 400 35mm Film

Negative Lab Pro Result
The Negative
Colour Corrected (to my preference)
Some more from today

As my first time shooting 35mm, I'm pretty happy with the results.
I still need to practice the colour correcting aspect as it's a bit trickier to work with than digital images
I was just a guy interested in film but never got round to it but I'm really happy I finally invested in the gear, as it has given me some unique results and inspired me to continue with the hobby.
